Katherine grew up in Singapore, where she developed twin fascinations with history and the natural world. Her undergraduate research focused on exploring the construction of natural history as “national heritage” in Singapore by analyzing the history and politics of displaying colonial-era science artefacts in local museums. For her MPhil in Digital Humanities, her research will focus on using digital methods to explore networks of natural history in 19th and 20th century Southeast Asia under the British Empire. Katherine holds a BA in History and Anthropology from Harvard College and is attending Cambridge as a Gates Cambridge scholar.
