Conference Paper Presentation Bursary

Cambridge Digital Humanities is keen to support Cambridge researchers and staff (including ECR researchers) delivering a paper or presenting a poster at conferences relevant to Digital Humanities. Conference Bursaries will be made available on application, to cover registration fees and, where travel is possible, travel and accommodation costs up to an approved maximum.

We will exceptionally consider applicants not intending to present a paper or poster – whose attendance at a particular conference is likely to significantly benefit DH research at Cambridge and the applicant’s own career.

Consideration will be given to applications to attend and/or present at conferences taking place before 31 July 2022.

Applicants should provide, via the application form below, an abstract of 350–500 words on the conference paper or poster proposed, and a statement of up to 300 words summarising the potential contribution of the conference attendance to applicants’ ongoing research and career. A paper or poster doesn't need to have been accepted before an application is submitted, but applicants must inform us once the outcome of their proposal is known for the funds to be released.

Budgeting should take into account any other funding applications in process, as well as other funding already received. We may award a proportion of the sum applied for without reference to any other source of funding. Bursaries awarded are maximum amounts and are paid up to that maximum on the production of receipts according to the guidance in the University's travel and expenses policy. In the case of travel expenses (for example, airfares) necessarily incurred in advance, these may be reimbursed before the conference on application to us, but funds must be returned if the journey is not undertaken.

Deadline for applications: Sunday, 31 October 2021.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in mid-November. Applications will be assessed by a panel chaired by CDH Director Professor Caroline Bassett.

The completed application form should be submitted by the above deadline to be assessed.
