Dr Robert Ralley is a historian of science and medicine who has published work on the histories of medicine, magic and astrology. He spent nine years working on the Casebooks Project, where he was a Senior Editor, from its first pilot to its completion in 2018; and he has co-authored articles on both the seventeenth-century history of the documents and their creators and on the digital project itself. He has also transcribed for the Newton Project. The work for both Casebooks and the Newton Project centred on encoding the texts from early modern manuscripts in TEI.

He is now a Research Associate on Unlocking Digital Texts, which will use the Casebooks data as a test case to develop a new framework for presenting digital texts online.
