Applications are invited for a full-time Senior Research Associate who will play a key role as Executive Director of the Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy (MCTD). This is an opportunity for a talented individual to make a major contribution to the development of a new field of research, about a topic that seems likely to be one of the most important of our time.

The Executive Director will assist in the coordination of the management and planning of the activities of the projects within the Centre, and in fostering collaborations. The appointee will also play a key role in developing core activities of the Centre, such as conferences, collaboration and communication. In all of these roles, s/he will work closely with the Academic Director (Professor Steven Connor) and the Advisory Committee. He/she will have day-to-day responsibility for the Centre’s operations, management, recruitment, delivery of research programmes and the line management of junior research and support staff.

The Minderoo Centre for Technology and Democracy (MCTD) is the first node in a planned international network of academic centres established to rebalance power and restore agency in a world dominated by digital platforms. One of the roles of the Executive Director is to maintain and foster relationships with other nodes of the network. MCTD is hosted within Cambridge’s Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) and is supported by the Frontier Tech Initiative.
