On 4 December 2023, thought-leaders, policymakers and practitioners from around the world gathered at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris to celebrate the second World Futures Day (WFD). Professor Caroline Bassett, Director of Cambridge Digital Humanities, delivered the keynote: But which future should we stay with? 

World Futures Day was created to emphasise the critical role of futures and foresight in building peaceful and inclusive societies. This year’s celebration focussed on:

 

  • Interwoven Futures: Strengthening our Social Fabric amidst Emerging Technologies 

  • Impactful Multilateralism through Futures Literacy & Foresight

  • Shifting Futures Perspectives: Experiencing Diverse Futures Approaches in Practice
