Description

The Cultural Politics of Code: A Critical Code Studies Reading Group

First Session: An Introduction to Critical Code Studies

11 October 1700-1800

The Cultural Politics of Code is a new reading group exploring ideas and methods from the emerging field of critical code studies. We read computer code as a text and understand it not just as a set of instructions, but as a carrier of meaning, and a medium through which culture is made and propagated.

This hybrid session will explore an introduction to the discipline and cover the Introduction to Critical Code Studies by Mark C. Marino, and the updated Introduction to the field, also by Marino and Jeremy Douglass, that appeared in the most recent issue of Digital Humanities Quarterly

Join in person or online

This event will be hybrid, held in person at GR04, English Faculty and on Zoom. Sign up to the mailing list to receive the Zoom registration.
